Football: Penalty decisions hit Denbigh Town FC hard

TWO controversial penalty incidents at the start of the second half ended up costing Denbigh Town dear in Saturday’s 2-1 home loss to Llanfairpwll.

Town went into the interval 1-0 up after Ian Evans’ 30- yarder rebounded off the post and went in off the back of keeper Ben Heald.

Early in the second half Denbigh striker Tom Mutton went down in the box but nothing was given and soon after a penalty was given against the hosts when Kelvin Frazer dropped under a challenge from the keeper and Iwan Williams made it 1- 1 from the spot.

Arwyn Owen’s late decider left Denbigh crestfallen.

RUTHIN Town fared better in their match at Llangollen, picking up a 2-1 victory.

Mike Garrod’s double, including an 88th minute penalty, sealed the spoils for Town, who rise to seventh.
