Cycling: Rhyl's Bayliss is GB team for Euros

RHYL CC’s Sarah Bayliss has secured a place in the GB Elite Mountain Bike Orienteering team at the European Championships in Denmark and the World Championships in Israel.

The Denbigh doctor came second and third in the crucial British Long and Middle Distance MTBO Championships at Wareham Forest.

Alan Overson already had the 18 miles Veteran’s Course Record going into last week’s Rhyl CC/VC Melyd Time Trial League event at Denbigh, and improved on it by another 28 seconds this week with a winning time of 43mins 10secs.

Mike Cummins (44.04) pushed him hard and Prestatyn’s Gary Houlston was in third.

Sunday sees the Rhyl CC Open 2’ at St Asaph, with 60 entries reported so far.
