TRIBUTES have been paid to a highly respected figure in Welsh boxing who passed away last week.
Ian Murray had served the Welsh Amateur Boxing Association’s northern division for over 25 years as a secretary, judge and referee. He was also former secretary of Llangefni ABC.
“He was respected throughout the UK and will be sadly missed by the boxing fraternity in North Wales and beyond,” said Darryl Jones, coach of Rhyl-based Clwyd ABC.
Hailing from Llangefni, Anglesey, Mr Murray’s funeral service at Bangor Crematorium tomorrow (Thursday) at 1.30pm is expected to attract a large turnout.
