RHYL v GAP CONNAH’S QUAY
WELSH PREMIER LEAGUE
FRIDAY 7.30PM
RHYL are unbeaten in their last 10 league meetings with Connah’s Quay and would dearly love to make it 11 on Friday as they bid to maintain their quest for top spot.
The Lilies lost their place at the summit following the 0-0 draw with Aberystwyth on September 27. TNS now head the table on goal difference.
Lilywhites senior coach Allan Bickerstaff appreciates the importance of Friday’s clash, switched to Belle Vue because of an event at Deeside Stadium, where it was originally due to take place.
“It’s a big game, a local derby; they’re all big games,” said Bickerstaff. “We go out to win every match and there is no such thing as fielding a lesser side.
“The players who have not been getting a regular start with our first team other clubs in this league would give their right arm for.”
Quay have made a good start to the campaign under new boss Steve O’Shaughnessy and currently occupy fifth position.
In 28 Welsh Premier tussles between Friday’s foes since 1994/95, Nomads have won 14 and Rhyl 10 with four draws.
