SIX of Prestatyn Running Club’s in-form veterans have been selected to represent North Wales in next week’s Welsh Inter-Regional Cross-Country Championships in Wrexham.
Gordon Jones (M50) and George Nixon (M55) were unlucky not to make the Welsh side for the recent British and Irish Masters’ International so their inclusion in the North Wales team is no surprise.
Jones, however, has had to turn down the chance due to family commitments.
Gaining his first representative honour is George Nicholls, one of the club’s most consistent and certainly most prolific competitors over the past couple of years. He is included in the M35 team.
Also making her well-earned North Wales debut will be Brenda Tiedtke, who will join clubmates Glenda Davies and Gay Waring in L45 class.
It will be a tough weekend for the six, as the meeting is followed less than 24 hours later by the third fixture in the Borders Road Running League in Mold.
Organisers of the inter-regional match, which incorporates the Welsh Masters Championships, are appealing for all North Wales athletes who are not competing to help officiate on the day.
