RHYL CC held the first ever mountain bike race in Coed Nercwys on Saturday, and Aberystwyth University student Brodie Grodias (Orange Monkey MTB) proved a fitting winner of the main senior event over 21 kilometres of rocky trail and fire road.
He was well clear of second-placed Penrith man Alan Hartley with local Rhys Peters in third. GB MTB orienteering world champion Sarah Bayliss (Rhyl CC) beat club mate Julie Salmon to the senior female first prize.
The impressive Kerfoot-Robson family (Rhos-On-Sea CC) were winners again, Dylan in the U12 boys and Sol U8 boys. Joe Barnwell (CBM Dyffryn Conwy) took the U10 boys, and Lottie Cooper (Rhyl CC) dominated the U12 girls.
The promoting club also bossed the U14 and U16 boys sections with first places for Robbie Green and Louis Needs. Charity Road Peace benefited from profits made.
Next event is the Rhyl CC cyclo-cross for all ages at Glan Morfa Country Park in Rhyl on Sunday, November 2, generously supported by Rhyl Town Council.
