Hockey: Rhyl ladies unlucky against Llandudno

NORTH WALES DIVISION TWO

THIS was a tough match in which Rhyl Ladies dominated top of the table Llandudno but were unable to grab a deserved win.

Tudno scored first when their forward broke through the defence and finished well in a one-on-one with netminder Sue Pennington.

Rhyl equalised in open play when Lucy Edwards scored from top of the D.

Jess Haywood, Ceri Madoc-Jones and Megan Lovett had chances to put the hosts ahead but could not get the ball into the net.

At the other end Pennington kept the score at 1-1 with some fantastic diving saves.

Hannah Bateman played well in defence and made plenty of runs down the right to feed into the D, but Rhyl players could not get a touch.

In the closing minutes Tudno came close to a winner but Lovett stopped them in their tracks with great defending.
