Corwen driver's two podiums at Silverstone

CORWEN'S Hywel Lloyd showed he was on storming form at Silverstone last weekend when he racked up two podium finishes at the home of British racing.

The human cruise missile from Corwen won one of two races outright and a third place in another, putting him in fourth place in the Formula Three National Class.

"It was good to get back on the podium again because it’s been a while and I’d have settled for thirds on the day and been pleased but it turned out even better" he said.

"It was great to win again. It had been a while but the car’s been getting better and better and it’s a real reward for the whole team."

Although the championship overall still rests with runaway leader Jay Bridger, Lloyd is hopeful that more podium finishes could net him a top three finish in the championship.

Hywel, who pilots a Mugen-Honda for the CF Racing team, says that he briefly enjoyed the lead in the racing and tussled with the championship leader on several occasions at the Northamptonshire track.

He has now journeyed over 1300 miles to Bucharest for his latest race, which will see him dicing with rivals on the continental city’s streets in scenes reminiscent of the Monaco Grand Prix.

"Not many of the others have raced there before either so it’ll be the same for most of us" he said.

"It should be a real challenge with a great atmosphere. I can’t wait."
