Bowls: Denbigh's Sue Dace beaten in merit final

SUE Dace of Denbigh was the beaten finalist in the Welsh Ladies Individual Merit bowls competition at Llanrwst BC.

Currently manager of the Welsh county team, Sue overcame Alwena Topley (Rhydymwyn BC) 21-19 and then fought her way to a 21-18 win over a determined Sue Vayro (Eirias Park BC) in the semi-final.

Jane Bowler awaited in the final and the Deganwy player raced into a 20-7 lead. Sue fought back to 20-15, but Jane finally secured the point she needed to seal a second Welsh title.
