RHYL 17 WELSHPOOL 10
WRU DIVISION ONE NORTH
ALTHOUGH Rhyl continued their impressive climb up the table they had to survive a second half rally from their opponents.
Despite a somewhat disjointed first stanza performance, the hosts won sufficient ball to spawn a try for centre Shaks Ngwenya, converted by Ben Morris, and John Hall added a penalty to make it 10-0 at the changeover.
Rhyl’s second half effort showed marked improvement and the scrum began to gain parity against the bigger and heavier Welshpool forwards.
Stuart Fell-Crook set up centre Rob Tilley for a try brilliantly converted by Morris, and despite Welshpool replying with two converted scores, the hosts held on for a deserved triumph.
