Football: Denbigh Diamonds end term in defeat

DENBIGH Diamonds ended their season in the North Wales Girls Under-15 Football League with a frustrating 2-1 loss to Colwyn Bay.

Although they never stopped attacking, the Vale femmes squandered too many chances.

Lowri Roberts’ runs down the right wing and excellent crosses deserved better reward, but just before the break, Bay snatched the lead.

Denbigh were still shellshocked as the visitors kicked off for the second half. The Diamonds midfield and forwards were caught napping as Colwyn went straight through them unopposed and added a second goal.

The hosts fought back but fluffed several easy openings until with 20 minutes left Paige Morris fired into the bottom right corner.

Denbigh went for the equaliser, but although they struck the bar and post the leveller would not come.
