AFTER a season of under achievement, St Asaph have been relegated from the Premier Division.
Needing to beat leaders Llandudno to stand any chance of avoiding the drop, Saints were hammered by 117 runs at Elwy Park on Saturday.
Tudno, who were crowned champions for a third successive season, rattled up 204 for eight declared, Dave North three for 64, Johnny de Bartolo two for 40 and Matt Naylor two for 49.
Asaph were then skittled out for just 87, de Bartolo 25 and Gareth Jones 19, the visitors securing a 28-3 outcome.
CARMEL won by six wickets at Dolgellau to finish their division two campaign on a high.
Steve Jones nabbed four for 27 as Dol were restricted to a measly 85 for nine off their 45 overs and Carmel responded with 86 for four, Richard Jones 28, Steve Jones 21no, to seal an 8-2 verdict.
Carmel finish fifth while Abergele end up down in eighth after completing their season with another defeat, scoring 148 for six compared to Bersham’s 153 for six.
CARMEL 2NDS achieved promotion from division five in thrilling fashion after gaining the required 10-0 win in their final game with Mochdre 3rds on September 7.
Fortunately for Carmel their game was played on Sunday. Second-placed Gresford 2nds’ cancellation 24 hours earlier due to the Saturday washout put them nine points ahead of Carmel.
This gave the Flintshire villagers a window of opportunity and they took it. Carmel 2nds set 223 for nine, James Roberts 62, Dafydd Bailey 47 and Derek Johnson 43, and in reply Mochdre were shot out for 120 with 10 balls left, Matty Prescott, Mikey Harrison, skipper Dafydd Timothy, Johnson and Tom Jones sharing the wickets.
