Woodfest Wales set to be a hit at St Asaph

WOODFEST Wales, a celebration of all things wood, will be bringing their festival showcasing a variety of wood-related activities, crafts and forest industries to Denbighshire this weekend.

The show which takes place in St Asaph just off the A55, attracts over 20,000 visitors to its beautiful Vale of Clwyd location.

Timber businesses, organisations and associations use the event to showcase their own areas of speciality and interest giving advice on all timber related matters: forestry commission, Welsh timber forum, Coed Cymru, arborists, foresters, timber haulage companies, timber suppliers, timber handling and saw milling.

Displays include an awesome display by 16 of the world’s leading Chainsaw Carvers competing with each other to create beautiful and often very large wooden sculptures - all of which are available for the public to buy on Sunday.

A range of family events and attractions also take place over the three days including Welsh Food Hall, Art Zone, fairground rides and children’s activities along with birds of prey displays.

Holystone Hawks, static and flying bird of prey displays, and Heavy Horse and Gundog demonstrations will be taking place in the East Arena over all three days.

A new mountain bike trail featuring a dramatic and exciting track made specifically for the event will be a testing challenge for even the most experienced riders.

In the Pole Climbing Arena a new range of activities will be taking place, incorporating the main pole climbing competitions and also a new discipline involving a combined pole climb/axe throwing and boom running.

The organisers are working with local schools to plan furniture competitions and displays of craftsmanship, all of which will be on display over the three days in the Education Marquee.

The festival is open from 10am-5pm this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, June 5, 6 and 7. For ticket information call 01745 585801.
