RHYL youngsters learnt about the environment last week when volunteers from across Denbighshire joined together to make improvements at a popular park.
The workers, with expert instruction and hard work from Arwel Huws and support from Denbighshire Countryside Services and Keep Wales Tidy, spent five days laying a hedge at the Roe Plas Park, St Asaph, next to the community and council meeting room and new Multi-Use Games Area.
They were eagerly watched by pupils from Ysgol Tir Morfa.
The volunteers also enjoyed a networking event organised by Keep Wales Tidy to support the new Tidy Towns project, where groups and individuals got the chance to meet and share ideas and get advice and assistance from the various organisations in attendance.
Over 50 people attended the event during the day and enjoyed demonstrations on hedge laying, and got the chance to try their hands at fly casting with expert instruction from Rhyl and St Asaph Angling Association.
Gareth Jones, Tidy Towns Officer for Denbighshire said: “We hope to build on this event for next year. I’m very pleased with how the day went and that so many people found it so useful, I think it was well worth doing and would like to expand on it for next year but keep the friendly relaxed atmosphere, I would also like to pass on my thanks to everyone involved in the day and the weeks hedge laying.”
