Ruthin youth worker picks up film award

A RUTHIN man who works with homeless young people travelled to Cardiff recently to accept a national award for his role in helping the youngsters make a DVD about their experiences.

Project worker Scott Robinson, who works at the Greenbank Villas Supported Living Project managed by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association in Flint, accepted the runner-up award in Communications Category of the National Network Wales Awards event, along with Kayleigh Wright-Storey one of the young people featured in the DVD.

Earlier in the year Scott directed and produced the DVD, called You Are Not Alone for Clwyd Alyn Housing Association to use in all their supported living schemes throughout North Wales.

Andy Roberts, supported living manager (East) for Clwyd Alyn Housing Association said: "We are thrilled to receive this award. Project worker Scott Robinson has been working with tenants from across the North Wales area to provide effective communication material that involves the residents of our schemes."

Clwyd Alyn Housing Association is part of the Pennaf Housing Group and Kevin Hughes, the director of care and support services for the group, said: "Communicating with our residents is a key priority to the success of our service provision and the DVD introduction to Support Living, You are Not Alone, is in a format accessible to young people and by involving the residents themselves, featuring their stories and their experiences, we hope it is an effective way of getting important information across.

"This award is a real tribute to the enthusiasm and hard work of all contributed to the DVD, not least, the residents themselves."

The award was received at the ceremony by Scott and Kayleigh who were accompanied to the ceremony by Kelly Boylin, a resident, and Maria Evans, a project worker, at the Greenbank Villas Supported Living Project in Flint.
