Ruthin care worker up for Care Forum Wales award

A RETIRED care worker from Ruthin is in line for a top gong this week after being nominated for the award by her former bosses.

Anwen Jones, who worked at the Llys Marchan Residential Home on Mwrog Street until earlier this year, has been shortlisted for an Outstanding Achievement prize after reaching the finals of the Care Forum Wales awards.

"Anwen believes that involvement in activities is central to the person’s well-being and she worked tirelessly to provide as many opportunities as she can for residents" said Llys Marchan Manager Nesta Yorke Anwen, who nominated her for the award.

"She is really committed to making a difference to the lives of residents and understands that attention to the little details goes a long way in enhancing someone’s quality of life."

Jones was nominated following her 37 years of working in care homes, including as Senior Care Worker at Llys Marchan, her last post before she retired.

The Ruthin home, which is owned by Clwyd Alyn Housing Association, provides support for up to ten adults with learning difficulties.

Although Anwen has retired from her paid post at the care home, she is hoping to return to the home in the near future as a regular volunteer worker.

The Care Forum Wales Awards ceremony will be held at Cardiff’s City Hall on October 31.
