Assembly minister visits Coleg Llysfasi

CLWYD college Coleg Llysfasi’s got a visit from one of the Welsh Assembly’s top ministers last month at a special prize-giving ceremony to mark students’ successes.

Elin Jones, Minister for Rural Affairs, dropped into the college's site near Ruthin on June 26 to present awards at its annual Prize-giving Day, which saw over 500 people attending.

Fred Cunningham, college principal, said the visit marked a year which had been an exciting time in the college’s history, and that it reflected on excellent work by students and highly motivated staff.

"Lifelong learning is alive and well here in Llysfasi. Whatever we offer and wherever it is offered quality is high on our agenda" he said.

Staff at the college are now preparing for a summer supporting the county’s rural and agricultural shows, and invited performers from Llangollen’s recent Eisteddfod to stay in its recently refurbished accommodation.

"At Llysfasi we have always taken the view it is important for us to be pro-active - go out and actually show people exactly what we have got to offer" said Mr Cunningham.
