HISTORIC haunts of Ruthin and Denbigh rarely explored by the public will be opened at a series of special weekends later this year, the county council confirmed this week.

The Vale of Clwyd Heritage Open Days, to be held in September, will see over 30 private properties open their doors to the public, and will be backed with special interest tours including ghost walks and a stroll with a noted Denbigh explorer.

Rustic properties in Ruthin will open their doors on September 13 and 14, with Denbigh following suit on September 20 and 21.

New properties for this year’s tours include Ruthin’s Rose Cottage, which dates back to the 15th century.
