Graig Aid concert at Ruthin Gaol to raise money for charity

RUTHIN will rock to the sounds of top singers and bands later this month at a charity concert to be held at the town’s historic Gaol.

Graig Aid is hoping to raise funds for a number of charities around the region at the gig on Saturday [June 21], and is the second set to be held at the site.

"The Town Council want to develop it as a festival area and they asked us to do it as we have a tried and trusted track record of organising charity festivals over the past seven years" said festival organiser Gordon Roe.

The Funky Doctors, an eight-piece funk and soul outfit, are set to headline at this weekend’s show, with supporting acts including indie rockers The Lupins, local lads The Sublimes and The Sunday Sessions Band, who are promising to bring an American flavour to proceedings.

Last year’s show, also held at the Gaol, attracted an audience of around 500 gig-goers, and helped to notch up the £50,000 Graig Aid has raised since its inception five years ago.

Tickets for the event, which kicks off at 6pm, cost £10. For more information visit www.graigaid.com.
