Ruthin hotel owner to feature on TV

A RUTHIN entrepreneur who left London to set up a hotel in the town is one of two siblings being featured on a television programme next week.

Gavin Harris, who runs the Manorhaus Hotel on Well Street, is being featured on the S4C homes and interiors programme o4Wal, presented by Aled Samuel on Wednesday.

The broadcast will showcase the state of the art hotel, which features a multi-media library, a cellar cinema, and bedrooms decorated in the styles of different artists, including local Llanrhaeadr artist Ian Williams.

"We first spotted the building on the web and in the end it was the only place we saw with a view to converting into a hotel. We knew Ruthin was an historic, attractive town and this seemed ideal for a boutique hotel," said Gavin.

Since beginning the hotel’s refurbishment in 2006, Gavin says the venue has enjoyed rave reviews for it’s unique ambience, attention to detail and high quality service.

However, Gavin is not the only member of the Harris family to relocate to North Wales and the hotel business. The programme will also feature sister Debra, who made her own decision to leave London and head to Dolgellau, where she now runs Ffynnon, a boutique guesthouse.
