Rhyl shoplifter given 70th conviction

A 34-YEAR-OLD woman appeared at a special court at Llandudno on Boxing Day when she was convicted of shoplifting for the 70th time.

Amanda Teese of Princes Street, Rhyl, was told by the court chairman she had “an horrendous record of offending”.

She admitted stealing bedding worth £66 from a Rhyl store on Christmas Eve, claiming she was going to sell it so she could afford the bus fare to Corwen to visit her little child.

Teese, who had spent Christmas in police custody, was fined £100 with £15 costs but this was deemed paid because of the time in custody. Court chairman Philip Evans said they noted she was in the early stages of a community order which involved drugs rehabilitation, “which seems to be the source of your offending problems.”
