A MELIDEN company are turning rivals green with envy after winning a huge number of certificates.
Greengrass Services Ltd was invited to a presentation back in September at the Welsh College of Horticulture to receive over 60 course certificates that they have been awarded in the last 8 months.
Greengrass Services Ltd used the Skills in Workplace (SITW) Project to support its team of six employees gain over 60 qualifications.
The project allowed employees from the garden maintenance business to enrol onto courses at the Premier Horticultural College of Wales among others, and gain qualifications that have helped the business to greatly improve its competitive status. Although the workforce had a wealth of experience between them, many members lacked official qualifications both from a horticultural and business perspective. The SITW project allowed the business to access affordable training from the experts at Colleges such as Welsh College of Horticulture, Coleg Llysfasi, and Llandrillo College.
Erica Dawson of the Welsh Assembly Government was delighted to present the prizes and commented that it was a fantastic result in such a short timeframe.
Graham Moore from WCOH acted as MC for the occasion and praised the team for their dedication and undoubted skills. Jenny Pitts the NVQ assessor for Amenity Horticulture claimed that the Greengrass team were the best set of students she had ever worked with.
Also present were representatives from Coleg Llandrillo (Yvonne Delvin and Julie Sneddon) and Edwina Jones from Llysfasi College who provided many of the courses completed by the team.
Office Manager, Tony Morgan told the Visitor of further success for the company: "Last week we were audited by the Green Dragon organisation and have informally been awarded level two.
On October 16 we have also been invited to WCOH as Greengrass Services Ltd is on the shortlist for "best company" and Ralph Dunster has made the shortlist for "best student".
