Llangolen Railway is on track for a gala weekend

A TRIO of treats await Llangollen residents as they steam ahead with plans for their Autumn Gala, being held along the town’s railway this weekend.

No less than three events are being staged along the heritage railway between Friday and Sunday, with delighted Dee Valley residents able to take advantage of a tie-up between Carrog’s Arts, Crafts and Heritage Event, Glyndyfrdwy’s Classic Motorbike Rally and Llangollen’s Autumn Gala simultaneously.

“We’re going to have some exciting visiting locomotives, particularly from the Southern Region which we haven’t focused on here for a few years,” said Jules Roberts, commercial manager at Llangollen Railway.

“There’ll also be lots of other events on, including several railway authors who will be doing book signings, so it looks set to be a great weekend.”

The weekend will see the Llangollen railway line dedicated solely for steam locomotives, with a range of special prices announced on the railway’s website for visitors to the gala.

Passengers will be able to use the historic line to visit the Glyndyfrdwy Classic Motorbike Rally, being hosted at the village’s station, as well as the crafts fair at Carrog, which is promising an array of artworks from around the area and free hands-on workshops for visitors.
