Superlambanana
VISITORS flocking to this year’s International Eisteddfod in Llangollen next week will come face to face with a controversial icon of Liverpool - the Superlambanana.
The seventeen-foot long sculpture, originally created by Japanese artist Taro Chiezo in 1998, will be making its appearance at the town festival before going to graze on the summit of Moel Famau this summer.
As part of Liverpoool’s celebrations as 2008’s European Capital of Culture, a flock of Superlambananas are being unleashed from the city, with one of them headed for North Wales, which enjoys historic links with the Mersey area.
Throughout Eisteddfod week visitors will be able to decorate their own Superlambanana, but with images from the Vale.
The workshops will be held on Thursday, July 10, 10.30am until 12.30pm and 1.30pm until 3.30pm and again on Saturday, July 12, 10am until 12pm, 1pm until 2.30pm and 3.30pm until 5pm.
