TRAFFIC-calming measures are urgently needed near a popular children’s play area in Upper Denbigh, according to local politicians.
Vale of Clwyd MP Chris Ruane and Denbighshire County Cllr Colin Hughes are calling for the measures to be introduced along Lloyd’s Avenue, which runs next to Cae Howell, which has a play area.
“Many residents have contacted me expressing their concern about speeding traffic along Lloyd’s Avenue,” said Cllr Hughes.
“That route is often used as a short-cut through to Morrison’s supermarket by many people and unfortunately, although it is a small minority, many of these speed despite the close proximity of the play area.
“I have taken the issue up with Denbighshire County Council and will be pushing for measures to be introduced.”
Mr Ruane has frequently raised the issue of road safety, including pushing for the introduction of 20mph speed limits outside schools.
“Well over 2,000 people from across the county signed the petition calling for slower speed limits outside schools, which shows the level of support for such schemes,” he said.
