VANDALS who last week targeted a Denbigh primary school escaped with nothing due to the schools "excellent" security system, claim the headteacher.
Late on Tuesday, October 21, Ysgol Twm o’r Nant was broken into causing damage to the school. Headteacher Mr Geraint Davies has told the Visitor of his relief at having nothing stolen during the break-in and has hailed the security system in place at his school.
"At about midnight the caretaker received a call to say that the office had been broken into. Luckily nothing was taken and it seems our state-of-the-art security system scared them off. It was because of the excellent system they didn’t get anything and there was only damage to the window," said Mr Davies.
"Police arrived and took prints from the scene and hopefully the culprits will be caught."
Incidents such as this have been few and far between recently at Ysgol Twm o’r Nant and Mr Davies believes that is down to the introduction of new security measures at the school.
"Since we’ve put a large fence around the school in place, the vandalism and graffiti has diminished to practically nothing and is also due to the fact we have so many measures in place and people realise we are water-tight."
The incident has also disappointed Mr Davies as the school is now broken up for half term.
