Great Denbigh learning day despite poor weather

RESIDENTS of one Vale town braved stormy weather earlier this week to enjoy an educational experience at its first ever Learning Festival.

Organisers of the Denbigh Learning Festival, held last Tuesday [September 2] say the show was a storming success, and could lead to exciting tie-ups between the town businesses.

"I think it was an excellent event despite the weather that day. We’ve had numerous enquiries since and even some people signing onto our courses" said Julia Hughes, exhibitor and Head Principal of Coleg Llandrillo Denbigh.

"It was good to be able to network with some of the other exhibitors, and this event provided an important opportunity to do that. It would be really good to hold it again in future years and see it develop into a much bigger event."

An array of businesses and education providers arrived at Denbigh Town Hall, including many from the Vale of Clwyd.

One of the BBC’s buses also took a star turn at the show, where representatives were on hand to provide information about the region’s switchover to a digital TV signal, expected next year.

Denbigh Business Group, who organised the event, say they were pleased with the response and are optimistic about holding more Learning Festivals in future.

"It went really well, considering the weather we had on the day. It’s the first time we’ve done an event like this and we found all the exhibitors complimented each other really well" said Susan Muse, organiser.

"It was a good opportunity to let the community know what’s going on in and around Denbigh, especially now that the nights are beginning to draw in."
