DENBIGH blossomed over the Bank Holiday weekend with the town’s annual show being deemed a storming success by organisers and local residents.
Show secretary Steve Williams said the event, which cost £12,000 to stage, attracted its highest number of visitors in recent years despite threats from the weather.
"The committee would like to thank all those who helped in any way to make the show a success and are overwhelmed by the community spirit and generosity of local people and businesses, without whom the show would not be possible," he said.
Held at the Lôn Felin Field on Ystrad Road, the show celebrated the creativity of the town’s residents, including town resident Betty Parker who took home four trophies for her floral art.
Among the other highlights were an acclaimed performance from Denbigh and Flint Pony Club which wowed visitors with its musical ride display in the show’s central arena.
"I particularly enjoyed the pony club’s work. It’s been an absolute highlight of the show," said trader Janie Smith, who ran the Beatrix Potter stand at the show.
Next year’s show, set for August 24, 2009, is already being organised. Visit www.thedenbighshow.co.uk for more information.
