THE SUMMER holidays have been going swimmingly for children across Clwyd, thanks to a £10,000 grant launched recently to improve the county’s pools.
Leisure centres in Denbigh, Corwen, Ruthin and Rhyl have all received new pool inflatables, which staff at the swimming pools say has gone down a splash with youngsters.
"It’s been really well received by customers We believe that swimming should be as varied as possible, and this is just another way to bring the fun aspect back into swimming" said Neil Jones, Duty Officer for Ruthin Leisure Centre.
As well offering swimming free to Clwyd’s children, the centres will offer lessons snorkelling, diving, water polo and lifesaving throughout the summer break.
The money has been spread across Denbighshire after the Welsh Assembly pooled its resources and gave the grant through the Free Swimming Improvement Fund.
