World champ Webster at Denbigh tenants' event

WORLD Darts Champion Mark Webster from Denbigh was on hand at the town’s leisure centre this week to help a housing association kick off its annual celebrations in style.

Mark Webster, the reigning World BDO* Darts Champion, received a hero’s welcome when he arrived officially open Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd’s annual Tenants Day, on Wednesday (August 6).

"It’s very flattering to be asked to these different events, but with a busy darts schedule and training to be a plumber, I am rarely able to say yes," he said.

"Luckily, I have a great employer, so was able to agree to open this Tenants Day for Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd at Denbigh. It’s great to be able to thank people for their support during these last few months."

Webster, who won the world title in January, will be travelling to Denmark at the end of the month to participate in the WDF European Darts Cup with Wales’ National Darts Team.

Among other speakers who attended the event were representatives from North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, Healthy Eating Wales, and TPAS Cymru, one of the country’s leading tenant organisations.

But the day kept a focus on fun, with drama workshops, face-painting and football matches just some of the event’s being laid for the organisation’s younger tenants.

"We are so pleased to see so many people attending the event today, from the younger children to the older generation. Inviting our tenants to this special day is a great way of bringing everyone together to socialise, discuss issues and to develop new ideas" said Bryn Jones, Director at Cymdeithas Tai Clwyd.
