TRADERS, artists and entertainers braved stormy weather last weekend to bring the spirit of summer to Denbigh for the town’s annual festival.
Organisers of the Midsummer Festival, which ran from Thursday until Sunday [June 19 - 22] say that despite winds of up to 70mph all events met with success, with the Welsh and French markets proving particularly popular.
"We have received many compliments from the performers on the enthusiasm and knowledge of the audiences. I was delighted that professional musicians were able to visit local schools to take part in workshops with young musicians from our local schools, and that Welsh Market stallholders were delighted with the event and are keen to return to Denbigh" said Sue Muse, Festival Organiser.
The town’s younger talents were also keen to take part, with more than 100 of them taking part in a rugby tournament, as well as budding bands playing at an afternoon of live music at The Hand pub, in the town centre.
"It was a really fun day and such a cool place to perform too" said Francesca Reece, who was one of the local acts who performed at the pub.
Sue said that both she and the rest of the organisers were already looking forward to similar success with next year’s event.
"Diolch yn fawr to the Midsummer Group members and to all the volunteers who gave up their time to help ensure everything ran smoothly. In no time at all we shall be planning next year’s festival" she said.
