Llangollen's Ysgol Dinas Bryn gets £2.6m makeover

Ysgol Dinas Bran Llangollen

A £2.6m pound revamp has begun at Llangollen's Ysgol Dinas Bran this week in a bid to end lessons being held in temporary buildings on the site.

The project, jointly funded by the county council and the Welsh Assembly, will see a new building constructed at the school as well as a refurbishment of an existing block and a new music suite for pupils.

"This project will be of tremendous benefit to all pupils and staff at Ysgol Dinas Bran. This project will see the end of temporary accommodation and see new, purpose built facilities fit for a modern day education" said Councillor Hugh Evans, the council’s lead Cabinet Member for Education.

"This work will also free up much needed space in the present stage and hall areas and I’m sure the whole school is looking forward to seeing the new developments taking shape."

Initial enabling works for the project have already been completed by Oswestry-based builders Paveways Construction Ltd, who have been chosen as the main contractor for the works.

Staff and pupils at the school are also optimistic about the upcoming improvements.

"We are very excited about the improvements to the school and are looking forward to taking full advantage of the new facilities when they are completed later this year" said Jimmy Roberts, the school’s Business Manager

The work at the school is expected to be completed this September.
