Ruthin's Ysgol Clocaenog wins Llangollen gardening prize

Ysgol Clocaenog pupil Francine Whitehead with the school's prize-winning display

SUCCESS has blossomed for children from a Ruthin school after a planted wheelbarrow they entered into a Llangollen competition won the top honours earlier this month.

The pupils, from Ysgol Clocaenog, won first prize for the florally-festive barrow at the Llangollen Gardening Show, held at the Royal International Pavilion on June 7 and 8.

"The children are very proud of their achievements. We’re planning to use the £100 prize to reward them by investing in the school’s gardening club" said Gwennol Ellis, headteacher.
