Rhyl ready to bloom for competition

A SEASIDE town is making final preparations as residents, businesses and numerous organisations get ready to be judged in the Wales in Bloom competition.

Various groups from the public, private and voluntary sector have come together in Rhyl to make sure the town’s entry into the prestigious competition truly is a joint effort.

Among those involved are Rhyl Town Council, Barclays Bank, Rhyl Business group, the Community Payback Team, Rhyl College, St Thomas’ Church, six residents associations and Denbighshire County Council.

“It is great to see so many organisations be prepared to get their hands dirty to help spruce up the town,” said Chris Ruane MP for Vale of Clwyd.

“Everyone is helping out in many different ways for example last week the Community Payback Team was hard at work building and painting planters.

“However, we could still do with additional help as we intend to hold an environmental action day every Saturday in the run up to judging in early July and are appealing for volunteers.”

The volunteers will be meeting every Saturday at 10am in Wellington Road Community Centre, Rhyl.

Schools, businesses, residential homes and individuals who are interested in taking part in the competitions should contact Chris Ruane MP ruanec@parliament.uk or call 01745 354626.
