Couple get married in intensive care unit at Ysbyty Glan Clwyd

The couple recently celebrated the blessing of their marriage – the day they thought they would never see, at Meliden church, Prestatyn.

The pensioners, of Graham Avenue, Meliden, later had a reception at the Kinmel Manor Hotel, Abergele, and last week the newlyweds left for a short honeymoon in the Cotswolds.

“Thanks to the skill of the surgeon, the care of the medical team and nursing staff, the will of God and the prayers of the congregation of St Melyd Church, Michael survived,” said Julia. “I have never prayed so much.”

Mark Williams-Jones, clinical nurse manager at the Ysbyty Glan Clwyd, said: “We are very happy that such a joyous event took place in our intensive care unit.

“This was the first marriage to take place on our unit and we are pleased to have been a part of such a happy occasion.”

“We send our best wishes to Mr and Mrs Murphy.”
