Dermot O'Leary with baby Louis and Sarah and Dave Ward
A PARAMEDIC came to the rescue when a young mum went into labour at her Prestatyn home.
Little Louis West was born at home in Tower Gardens in Prestatyn because mum Sarah did not have time to get to hospital.
Fortunately paramedic Dermot O’Leary was not too far away and he rushed to the scene in a rapid response vehicle.
Dermot found that Sarah was heavily in labour and he called in the midwives. Sarah and Louis’s dad Dave are full of praise for the role Dermot played. “I’m very thankful to all who helped,” said Dave.
Dermot, who was working out of Rhyl ambulance station, said he made Sarah as comfortable as possible and provided initial pain relief.
“Once a midwife is on the scene our role is one of support,” he said.
