Crowds flock to see music spectacular
RAIN held off over the bank holiday weekend as thousands flocked to Rhyl’s biggest free live music event.
Residents and holiday-makers were not deterred by high winds on Sunday and came in droves to watch stars of stage and screen at Fun in the Sun, held in the events arena.
This year’s annual extravaganza included X Factor finalists Same Difference, former Atomic Kitten Natasha Hamilton, Rhyl’s James Stone, Shaun from X Factor, and an array of soap opera talent.
Support acts and stars of the future were new girl bands Cinderella Theory, Kissing Freddie and Stonefoxx, Lauren Rose and male vocalist Michael Hinch also appeared.
In addition to the bumper line-up of artists, the event incorporated children’s entertainment, face painting, circus skills and a fun fair.
One enthusiastic party-goer said, “It was fantastic unbelievable, It was very, very busy.
“The weather was fine and the arena was packed out. A few of the girl bands couldn’t really sing, but they certainly got the crowd going.”
Alongside the Fun in the Sun event, Rhyl RNLI hosted their annual open day.
Thrills included the return of the Red Devils Parachute Display Team, Second World War Spitfire aircraft display, model aircraft and North Wales Police helicopter.
