‘We loved him very much...’

TRIBUTES have been paid to a popular medical worker whose body was found near Trelawnyd last Tuesday morning.

Elfed Hughes, 52, was reported missing from the village and eventually found after a search involving police, rescue dogs and the RAF discovered his body on Gop Hill.

This week, proud mum Dwynwen, husband Meirion and siblings Tracey and Gwynfor, paid their respects to Elfed, who worked at Rowlands’ Pharmacy in Runcorn.

“He was a very popular person, we have had so many cards and phone calls – everybody has been so kind,” said Dwynwen. “He was diabetic and suffered for a long time. His family and friends never let him down but the (health) system did.

“We loved him very much, he will always be very dear to our hearts - we miss him terribly.”

A police spokesman said they are not treating the death as suspicious.

Elfed leaves behind son Kyle, 20, as well as his parents and siblings.
