New Seekers band back in the spotlight

IF you have to Beg, Steal or Borrow you should get tickets to an upcoming musical performance at Rhyl’s Pavilion Theatre.

The New Seekers’ highly successful 2007 tour of the UK saw the group celebrate the 35th anniversary of their biggest hit single – I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing.

Audiences have delighted in seeing them once again perform their hits and much loved album tracks, which is why they’re set to return to Rhyl on Thursday, August 21, for one night only.

The Seekers’ new live CD album has sold so well that the group are currently recording a new studio album. Additionally, they have just completed a brand new version of their biggest seller with classical artists Jon Christos, Juliette Pochin, The City of Prague Symphonic Orchestra and a full choir.

This came before the group accepted an invitation to attend Buckingham Palace last month, alongside The Drifters, Vera Lynn and Rolf Harris, following a successful Christmas party last December at St James Palace for HRH The Prince of Wales and HRH The Duchess of Cornwall.

The event completed a packed year of concerts for the group who appeared at 35 theatres around the country performing well-loved hits and newer numbers such as Reflections, Run To Me, and Massachusetts.

Created in 1969 by Keith Potger (a member of the Australian group The Seekers), the group soon achieved success both at home and around the world with their debut single Look What They’ve Done To My Song Ma. This was followed by the number one singles Never Ending Song Of Love and of course the song which began life as a Coca Cola jingle, I’d Like To Teach The World To Sing.

Eurovision success followed with Beg, Steal or Borrow, Circles, Pinball Wizard, I Get A Little Sentimental Over You and a further number one, You Won’t Find Another Fool Like Me. Success around the world has resulted in the group selling 35 million records, a figure which they hope to see grow with their latest releases.
