THE new manager of a multi-million pound community station in Rhyl is all fired-up for its opening this autumn.

Kevin Davies is the new manager of the Rhyl Community Fire Station, which is set for completion in August.

The aim of the Coast Road facility is to allow the fire and rescue service to become more accessible to the public, to develop partnerships with other agencies and to assist in extending work with young people.

"I am absolutely delighted to take on this challenge," said Kevin, who works closely with Denbighshire County Safety Manager Alyn Edwards.

Married with two children, Kevin’s job will be to ensure the station reaches out to the community - to schools and colleges, community groups, businesses and all kinds of local groups - and to draw these people in to learn more about fire safety.

"By offering facilities such as meeting rooms and office space, it will help us to reach members of the community that we presently may not be reaching from within our target groups," he said.
