Pupils join in gig to remember Abergele's Ben Perrin

TICKETS are still available for the “Tribute for Ben” concerts at Rhyl Pavilion Theatre, which take place over three days from July 2.

The concerts have been organised in order to pay to tribute to Abergele pupil Ben Perrin, who died in March this year, aged 14.

Shows will feature the Emrys Ap Iwan Senior Choir and Emrys Jazz Band, as well as members of the Pearl Shaw Dance School. Also appearing will be soloists and other bands Ben was involved with, including Ben’s brother Dan and his group, Drop Dead Porn Stars.

There will be different items on all three nights, so that various groups have the opportunity to perform.

Ben was a popular pupil at the school and involved in the Pearl Shaw School, where his mum Louise is a teacher.

Headmaster Nayland Southorn spoke to the Visitor this week.

“These concerts are an opportunity for the school to showcase its talents,” said Mr Southorn.

“Ben’s parents would like the proceeds from these concerts to be used to create a recording studio in the Emrys music department in Ben’s memory. Many pupils are involved in the concerts, including pupils from Ysgol St Elfod, Ben’s junior school, and this is testimony to the vibrant person that Ben was.

“We are looking forward to three exciting concerts and the general public is most welcome to attend.”

Tickets for the concerts are £5 each and available from the Pavilion box office on 01745 330000.
