New village green postbox for Ruthin's Edern estate

RESIDENTS of a Ruthin housing estate have welcomed their newest neighbour this week after locals and a Welsh Assembly member fought for a better postal service.

The new postbox, on the village green near the Ffordd Edern estate, is sited to be of benefit to people living on the Brynhyfryd Park estate, who campaigned alongside North Wales AM Janet Ryder for a better service.

"Facilities such as stand alone post boxes are vitally important within our communities. I am confident the box will be well used and I encourage other community groups to campaign for more post boxes to be sited near to where they live" she said.

Local residents are pleased by the move, including Catherine Jones, who believes the box comes at a time of great uncertainty for local post services.

"Without it many of the residents on the estate would have to use the post box on the Square. That’s not always convenient and I for one will certainly be sending my mail via this new post box in future. It’s wonderful news" she said.
