Motorbike show to hit Llangollen Pavilion in August

LLANGOLLEN looks set to become a motorbike mecca after plans were announced this week to hold a bikers’ bonanza in the town this summer.

Resident David Green, who runs events company Xuberance Events, revealed his plans to stage the Motorbike Show in his hometown on the weekend of August 2 and 3.

"Reaction to the news about the new show has been very, very positive - I suppose the only surprise is that nobody thought of it before" he told The Vale Advertiser.

He says the town is an obvious spot for the show and is a hit with riders from around the country, with the nearby A542 road regularly topping polls as a fan favourite in biking polls.

"When you think about it, it’s a pretty obvious idea because thousands and thousands of motorcyclists come to the area every year. What I’m hoping to do is to give them a reason to stay in the area so that we can provide a bigger boost to the local economy."

The August event was welcomed by Clwyd South AM Karen Sinclair, who says she is looking forward to the show.

"The Motorbike Show is set to be a very exciting and entertaining event for the town this summer - whether you are a petrol head or not! I’m sure it will be an enjoyable occasion for all that attend and will attract a wide range of people to Llangollen."

David’s plans also received an unexpected boost when rival event the Welsh National Motorcycle Show, due to be staged in Powys last month, was cancelled by police.

He says the show will be held at a variety of spots around the town, including a main events arena at the Royal International Pavilion, and a display of older motorcycles at the local motor museum.

"One of the most frequent questions I get asked is why the Bike Show hasn’t happened before now. Thousands of bikers come here every year so we believe there’s a big gap in the market" added David.

The event will celebrate every style of motorcycle, from vintage and classic stunners, road racers, and an array of trials and motocross machines. He also promises that road safety experts will be on hand during the show, to help encourage safe riding around North Wales during the weekend.

David is very keen to hear from Llangollen locals and motorbike men and women in the run up to the show. For more information please contact him on 0870 2324256 or visit the website at www.themotorbikeshow.co.uk
