Phoenix Performers will light up Rhyl Town Hall

THE Phoenix Performers are proud to present their first Youth Group Production of All Shocked Up which will be on this week (February 5, 6 and 7) at 7.30pm at Rhyl Town Hall.

The play has been written by two of the young volunteer leaders at the club, Suzanne and Christina Hailwood, and is an original tale, with lots of popular tunes, of one man’s battle with his conscience for his true love.

Will good overcome evil? You will have to come along and see the show to find out!

The Phoenix Performers was the old Children’s and Young Persons group based at The Little Theatre in Rhyl, but due to disagreements with the management team, the group had to find a new name and venue in June, 2007.

After a lot of hard work researching and setting up the company was established in October, 2007.

The children’s group for ages 7-16 years meets at Christchurch Sports Hall, Rhyl, on Saturdays between 10am and noon and the youth group for ages 14-25 years is based at St Ann’s Church Hall, Vale Road, Rhyl, on Tuesdays 7-9pm. Cost for both groups is £2 a session with a £10 yearly membership fee to cover insurance costs.

The Phoenix Performers is a non-profit making charity group run by volunteers who are qualified to work with children and young people and who have all got CRB certificates. The aims of the group are for children and young people to be able to learn performing art skills, acting, writing, dancing and stage skills in a safe and friendly atmosphere; where they can improve their team-building skills and make new friends and most important have fun.

It aims to put on one youth production and one full company production every year. It also has an awards show every two years, where the children and young people write and perform their own small plays and they are presented with best actor award by outside judges.

The next full company production will be on at Rhyl Town Hall, in December called Who Stole Santa.

This production will have a cast of 55 children and young people aged from 7-24 and will be a musical story.

The company has received funding this year from Communities First, Welsh Assembly Government and WCVA in the form of a grant which has enabled it to pay for the hire of the Town Hall for both of the productions and to buy some technical equipment.

Tickets for All Shocked Up will be available on the door. Adults £5 children/students/OAPs £4 . Family ticket (2 adults and 2 concessions) £15.
