Soul music extravaganza at Rhyl Pavilion

THIS Is Soul will bring together three of soul music’s most moving, eclectic and monumental artists for one glorious, foot stompin’, head-spinning show at Pavilion Theatre, Rhyl next year.

Geno Washington, Jimmy James and PP Arnold, three of the UK’s most dynamic live performers, take to the road early next year – the first time the three giants have toured together.

Washington and The Ram Jam Band had two of the biggest-selling UK albums of the sixties and, amazingly, both were live recordings.

Jimmy James brings his own vintage soul and infectious style to the mix. After achieving success in his native Jamaica, Jimmy came to England and joined the Vagabonds guiding them to becoming one of the biggest live attractions of the 1960s. Their impressive repertoire included the much covered Red Red Wine, I’ll Go Where Your Music Takes Me, and Now Is The Time. Jimmy recently featured on the Northern Soul 2007 compilation album put together by soul connoisseur Ian Levine.

PP Arnold’s career first kicked off as a member of the Ikettes, the backing vocalists for Ike and Tina Turner. Best known for her classic hits Angel of the Morning and First Cut is the Deepest, PP has an incredible range to her voice and knows just how to use it. Over the course of her career she has toured and worked with many including Eric Clapton, Barry Gibb, Billy Ocean, Boy George, Ocean Colour Scene and, recently, Roger Waters. She also featured on several tracks on Oasis’ 2000 album Standing On The Shoulder Of Giants.

As vital today as ever, Geno Washington, Jimmy James and PP Arnold show just what it takes to be great soul singers – and if you like the real live deal this is for you.

The show will be in Rhyl on Tuesday, February 3. For ticket information call the Pavilion Theatre box office on 01745 330000 or go to www.rhylpavilion.co.uk
