Denbigh Show promises to be the best yet

ORGANISERS of Denbigh’s annual show have this week released details of the show’s highlights, saying the event, held later this month, will be worth waiting for.

The Denbigh Show - formerly the Denbigh Flower Show - will be held at its usual home on Ystrad Road and will build on previous successes and draw from support from organisations from across the town when it opens on August 23.

"Last year’s event was the best show we’ve held in years, so we’ve been planning along the same lines and hopefully should get the same result" said Show Secretary Stephen Williams.

"A lot of exhibitors are holding back their competition entries because of the weather this year, but there’s a new wave of entrants coming through so it should make for interesting results and a great show."

Among the local groups supporting the show are the Denbigh Mini Rugby Club, the Flint and Denbigh Pony club, who will be giving a repeat performance of their "Musical Ride" show which proved a hit at last month’s Royal Welsh show, and the three emergency services, who will be displaying a number of vehicles at the event.

Other highlights the long-running horticultural competitions, classic cars, a variety of stalls, and a children’s tent, which includes a Punch and Judy show

Organisers also say that for the second year children under 16 will be admitted free of charge, while adult and senior citizen tickets cost £5 and £2.50 respectively. Showgoers will also be able to take advantage of free parking and a free shuttle bus to the site.
